What are the different types of interviews?
There are four types of interviews, one for each round:
- Screening: a short first conversation to confirm fit before deeper interviews.
- First Round: an in-depth conversation against the Cipher.
- Decision: the final round before the offer decision. It is always part of the process.
- Reference: reference checks before you extend an offer.
The decision interview walks through the chapters of the candidate's life and career. Its templates are of these kinds:
- Career: the core questions about each past role. See What questions do I ask in an interview?
- Education: early years, high school, university and grad school. See Should I ask a candidate about their time in high school?
- Future Thinking: forward-looking questions, such as what the candidate would do in the role's first 90 days.
